James E Proctor Jr

James E. Proctor, Jr. is a member of the Maryland House of Delegates from the 27th Legislative District of Prince George’s and Calvert Counties. Jim is Vice Chairman on the Appropriations Committee and also serves as a member of the following: Spending Affordability Committee, Public Safety and Administration Subcommittee, Capital Budget Subcommittee, and the Oversight Committee on Personnel.

Jim worked for thirty-two years in his chosen profession of education, with a master’s degree in administration. He served as a teacher, principal and college instructor. He was a principal in the Prince George’s County School System for seventeen years with Andrew Jackson Middle as his last school. He retired from the Prince George’s County School System on December 1, 1998.

Jim is a member of St. Mary’s of Piscataway Catholic Church and also an Air Force Veteran who has served his community as Vice Chairman of the Landlord Tenant commission, a member of the Southern Maryland Health System Agency and Civic Association President, as well as many other community organizations. Moreover, he has received numerous awards which include the Charles McC. Mathias; Jr., Award, House of Delegates; 2010, Fraternal Order of Police Appreciation Award; Maryland School for the Blind Appreciation Award; Bowie University Bull Dog Club Appreciation Award; Catholic Conference Legislator of the Year Award and the Accokeek Citizen of the Year Award.

Delegate Proctor and his wife Susie, former Court Liaison for the Prince George’s School System, have a son, Edward, Project Manager for the Federal Government; daughter-in-law, April, Computer Consultant; daughter, Stephanie, Legal Counsel for Montgomery County Public Schools; son-in-law, John, attorney for the Federal Government and three grandchildren, Darren, David and Autumn.
